The London Equine Hospital is owned and operated by Dr. Bernd Kretzschmar. Dr. Kretzschmar has been involved with surgery since 1992 and has been active at the current location since 1996.

Following obtaining his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, he went on to specialize by first completing an Internship in Large Animal Surgery, Medicine and Reproduction at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, followed by a 3 year Large Animal Surgery Residency.

During his residency Dr. Kretzschmar performed orthopedic research to develop a new technique for repairing broken bones in new born animals. Not surprising so, his particular interest in bone/joint related problems in race and performance horses in addition to Respiratory Surgery. Dr. Kretzschmar has performed thousands of surgical procedures at the London Equine Hospital on horses from Ontario, Michigan, Ney York and Quebec.

In addition to surgery Dr. Kretzschmar has been actively involved in presenting Continuing Education seminars to Veterinarians & Clients at conferences such as the AAEP, OVMA & others.
